Hi Vic, I can't say what my decision would be, it really depends upon the implementation, resolution, memory card types, DL interface, ergonomics, maybe if it was all good then a high price might be quite reasonable. Now relating to the "those that make money" question I don't know what the correlation is there, some pros are quite tight money wise whereas a well heeled amateur might say to hell with it and buy a $6k machine without any concern as to the potential to recover the cost? I'll bet a heck of a lot of the 14MP Kodak digital purchasers will be well heeled amateurs, the current DSLRs are fine for most broadsheet reportage illustration and other general pro areas.
