Does anyone really want Pentax to make an F5 equivalent, that costs twice the price of an MZ-S and takes 8 AA batteries? For that money, just grab a 67II and be done. Most top pros shooting fashion and portraits are shooting medium format anyway. N***n and C***n don't even try to compete in that field. Do their list members beat their chests over that? I doubt it."
Here, here. What Pentax doesn't tout as much as Contax is that they make a pro 35 mm system AND a medium format one. Here's the rub: "The MZ-S is a light-pro-camera; good for nature & adventure (e.g. climbing) photography; Lots of good FA* lenses and A* lenses & a good flash system. Should be used for nature photography when a long lens is needed (e.g. 300/400 mm & up) or when weight is critical. The 645nII is a medium format the same size & weight as pro cameras from N & C. Uses all of the MZ-S accessories (flash, cable releases). AND the MZ-S can use 645 lenses with an adapter. To be used for wide angle and landscape photography. Both cameras can be carried at the same time. Suggested backpacking outfit: 645nii with a 33-55mm & 55-110mm; MZ-S with a 80-200mm f2.8, and 300mm f4.5 with a 1.4Xs converter; also a cable release (fits both bodies) and a FGZ360 flash. If you are not hiking far or working from the car, add a 400mm f2.8, or a 600mm f4 or a 600mm f5.6 (645) with a K-mount adapter" OK, my marketing prowness may not be great, but this is the system I am building. Pentax should play up on this a little more. Maybe Pentax should make a "pro" catelogue with the MZ-S, 645nii & 67ii & play up on compatibility? They need to make buyers more aware of the entire system, not just components of it. OR maybe I'm nuts...
