Dan, I used to have a Slik monopod. I found that the thin leg tended to flex just a bit more than I cared for. All you had to do was push against it just a bit and it would flex. I ended up getting a three section Bogen that I am very happy with. Rock solid. I also got a 3229 head for it. Small, light and with quick release. It works very well.
