I don't think we should go too ballistic yet. That article was very hard to understand. It is likely, however, that if Pentax makes a major investment in digital, it will at least cut WAY back on film camera R&D. I suspect they will reduce the number of SLR models in production and only make marginal upgrades for a while. If they stick with K mount, new lenses will apply to both, and if they us a half frame sensor then we can expect some nifty new wide angles. Another thread has hinted at a new flagship; as I said there, it may be the last great Pentax film SLR.
