That's not quite my experience - Z1 does the same with a flash - but it
DEPENDS ON THE FLASH - it's not the same with every flash. Whenusing a flash
in dark conditions I find it annoying that the camrea choose rather slow
speeds. I use the Z1 in Manual Mode, when I'm using a flash (the
TTL-automatics still works in Manual, which is great BTW) for the same
reason. And, I guess that's the reason they put in a "250-setting" on the
Z1-P - to help "freeze" movement, when there's ambient light in the scene.

Jens

Brad, Paul,

There's an old rule of thumb saying that the longest hand-holdable shutter
speed for a lens is 1 divided by focal length. Ie, for a 28mm, 1/30s, for a
135mm, 1/125 (by approximation).

The MZ-S receive info from FA-lenses telling the focal length. Then the
camera selects a shutter speed that allows as much ambient light as possible
while being possible to hand-hold without camera shake. Definately a good
thing to do when working with flash.

The Z-series and MZ-series cameras will do the same thing, but not while
working with flash. My Z-1 tends to select shutter speeds one step slower
than suggested by the rule, which kinda makes me a bit nervous about camera
shake. (doesn't help to be nervous either, I suppose...)

HTH.
