I use a standard finder for macro photography, although I would use a
finder that allowed overhead viewing if I had one. If the shot is at
ground level, I use a table top tripod. For lighting I generally use a
Soft Shoulder reflector umbrella with my AF 400T flash firing into it.
This works great on the TTL setting. I'll compensate in exposure if the
subject varies greatly from zone 5 or neutral reflectivity, and I
usually bracket in half stops using the exposure compensation dial.
However, I've found LX TTL to be very accurate. My lens of choice is a
Vivitar Series 1 90/2.5. With the optical adapter, it can do 1:1. It's a
heavy, metal bodied beast of a lens, but it's magnificently sharp with
nice bokeh.
