I cannot comment on carbon tripods as I have only metal ones. And a heavy tripod is a good thing sometimes, isn't it?AFAIK, carbon tripods are more vibration resistance than equivalent metal one. That's what I noticed when I tried the Gitzo 3 series tripods 3 years ago.
