        Hmmm - probably just the ticket for the "pictorialist"
        school of thought in photography. Back in earlier times
        many "artsy types" pooh-poohed the stark realism possible
        with the new medium. Extensive efforts were made by these
        sort to make their photographs more "painting-like". I bet
        a soft focus wide would be great for landscapes of that sort.

        Check any photo-history book for more on these bozos  ;^)
