I was shooting my daughter's figure skating tonight and toying with the PZ's power zoom clips. I was thinking that it would be extremely useful for a sports photographer and thought I would explore them further. A lot of photographers and critics don't see a use for this feature but I'd bet that if you learned to use it prperly, that it would be very useful given the right circumstances...Yes, but zoom clip is "gadget"

Two founctions are
- motorized zomm
- auto return to shortest lengh at camera stop.
Working of the MZ-S with the power-zoom 2.8/28-70 AL at the time of the stop :
- return of the zoom to the focal distance or the objective is shortest as with the Z1
- NOT back from the focus to infinite unlike the Z1
I read three versions of user manuals: (page 29)
- French: "sur la focale la plus courte" (on the shortest FOCAL distance )
- English: "to its shortest physical LENGTH"
- German: "auf krtzeste Lnge" (to the shortest length)
A big difference of translation!
- Tested with a Z50p and power-zoom 28-80: the 28-80 and the 28-70 come back to infinite and zoom " to shortest " - - On MZ-S: the 28-80 and the 28-70 remain in current focus and zoom " to shortest "
It is therefore well the MZ-S that yet abandoned this function very convenient
