Yes I have been looking into this for some time. Currently the way we are doing it is by setting up a port mirror for the DNS servers. From there we run http://dns.measurement-factory.com/tools/dsc/ for later analysis. Its very rough at the moment but we hope to in the future to be able to add per record stats. I learned my lesson, PDNS should not gather stats on a per record basis, to do so would kill your performance. As statistical analysis is generally processor intensive not to mention memory intensive, you are better off IMHO going at it using port mirroring and a dedicated host for it. By all means then do dump back your parsed results back into your DB.
