you mean this bug, yes?

 Bug 149818 - Refactoring functionalities
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=149818

Unfortunately most of the PDT team works also on commercial Zend Studio, which
already has refactorings. So while we'd love to put refactorings in PDT, this
would harm our employer property :-(
Therefore I see two options: either someone else contributes his implementation
of refactorings, or community needs to push Zend to free the refactorings.
In the first case, that generous someone would be definitely welcomed as a
committer in PDT team.

Well that sounds reasonable. The only nasty issue that I experience from time
to time is the error "Zero or negative length StyleRange", but that has already
been noticed (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=331220). 2.2 is by
far the best release of pdt. I am quite happy :)

Personally I think pdt would benefit from adding refactoring functionality. I
looked at the LTK-toolkit, I guess we could use this? I am not a pdt developer
so forgive my ignorance but is it possible to access PDT's language model from
within LTK's extension points?
I think this would be needed if you are about to change a class name and you
want to update the file {name, location} automatically.
