Other than unemployment numbers, you've described Georgia and, I'd
wager, many other states, too. I agree: it sucks.

Nope ... I've spent just a few too many weeks in Georgia these last few months
to just let this slide (esp #3). And, I've had one of those weeks, and just
feel like unloading, so put on those asbestos underdrawers, sonny. Don't anyone
take any of this too personally ...

1) Last statistic I remember seeing there was that Georgia unemployment rate
is in the 5-6% range ... which is 15-20% better off than Portland's 7+.
We've got the highest hunger rate in the nation.

2) ... ok, we don't have a sales tax. Georgia does. And it's a real p.i.t.a.
to deal with all those stupid pennies ... Yeah, Oregon is better than
Georgia in this respect. Also, when you do move here, you might want
to avoid residing in Multnomah County (City of Portland), as they get
hit with a special additional income tax surcharge. Hit Google and
search for "Diane Linn Multnomah County Commissioner" ....

3) (This is the main reason I decided to reply :-) ) Sonny is a *lot*
more interesting than Ted! At least he gets at least one article in
the paper every time I'm there. Ted's practically invisible (except
when passing out Christmas bonuses to the staff).

4 and 5) yeah, unless your military or oil, the feds ain't funding a lot

Anybody remember the old US Worst slogan -- "life's bitter here".

P.S. Athens ... any chance your significant other is going to be doing
Environmental work at OGI?
