I believe your numbers are correct.  Stated another way, there are 4
ways to choose the first wire, 3 ways to choose the second, 2 ways to
choose the 3rd, and one way to choose the last.  I think this is just
called the permutations (combinations? I can never keep them straight)
of 4 things.. eg. NpR, with N=R=4.  Most calculators have a button
that does this, iirc. 24 sounds right though.
