I'm sure that you're just talking about wrapping the incomprehensible and/or tedius stuff in an ugly GUI right? 'Cus lots of us think that incomprehensible stuff is what makes Linux great. It sure is easier to script incomprehensible stuff than it is a GUI app. :)
Doesn't mean the other incomprehensible stuff can't be there underneath for the more technically inclined.
That's what I don't get about Linux people who try to get regular non-geek computer users to switch and then are frustrated when they don't. People don't want to learn how to insmod a usbdriver and use udev to mount their usb hard drive (I just made that up so don't grill me if it's not technically correct). They want to plug it in and have it show up automatically. Until there is that (and I'm not saying there isn't now, but it's few and far between), and there are GUI tools that a monkey can figure out, getting typical users to use Linux after the novelty has worn off won't happen.
