Hey Scott, Have you looked at Mandrake? I've been working with v10 now for a few months, have a half-dozen novice (ex-Windows) users converted that love it, and it looks good for a nice friendly desktop OS. It does get really cranky about cheap hardware but other than that it seems to be quite stable and well supported.
