I'm running FC2 on my laptop and I figured out how to extend the battery
life for just over 4 hours using simple Linux tools. Probably the most
important one it eh cpuspeed daemon/service. It will use SpeedStep to
reduce the CPU speed thus saving a LOT of battery life! But the current
cpuspeed module for the 2.6 kernel doesn't recognize the latest Pentium
M chips, so the source had to be hacked by hand and recompiles (involves
changing just one line, not very hard). Check google for the exact
steps to getting cpuspeed running.
