I don't know what the issues are with Comcast, but does that mean my connection will soon be broken?

No.

Why do some of you say you wouldn't use Comcast, just what are the issues? (I only signed up with them because my employer pays for it.) If you run commercial services, then I can see why there would be issues, but for a home office workstation, I've been pretty happy thus far.

Blind hatred for big companies in most cases. The most oft-cited "problem" with Comcast is their TOS section concerning servers/services. You are in violation of Comcast TOS if you use virtually any P2P software, most any PC remote control software, certain configuration of VPN software, etc., etc. In reality, the clause is only enacted in the most extreme cases; even when the RIAA has done their job for them and identified customers with servers running giving access to pirated material, you'd be unlikely to even see an email from them about the TOS violation (excluding, of course, the DMCA notice they are required to send).
