Huh?
Hey now, PHP and Ruby don't have to be exclusive technologies. Even though I
love Ruby, I still can love PHP. The most notable thing about this article
for me is is the "duh" factor:
I don't disagree. There's a time and place for any language. Even Java
still. I just find it amusing (and I didn't understand fully Mr.
Andreesen's investment in PHP) when anyones makes a prediction like this.
I mean, he's essentially talking about a language with OO bolted on, in
which it's difficult to write good MVC applications, replacing a language
that is quite entrenched and CAN handle MVC applications, even if they do
tend to get cumbersome at a certain point.
"Marc Andreessen recently announced his prediction that PHP will be more
popular than Java for building web-based applications."
<sarcasm>
Really? What? Amazing insight! For his next trick he will reveal his theorem
that Java is slow! After that he will point out (to everyone's suprise) that
the Java license is really bad and is driving away developers! This guy is an
oracle!
</sarcasm>
That can count as my snarky post for the day.
