Hi Jeremy,

I believe we shook hands last week, but didn't get a chance to talk.

I'd be interested in talking about contract work in the future. I'm
finishing up my first paying rails project, and so will have a
showpiece and a client I believe would be willing to speak as a
reference.

At the moment this is just moonlighting for me, but I am hoping and
planning to develop it into my livelihood.

I'm very eager to see what you and Robby have cooking with the
Refactoring project. I've learned so much on this project and I'm
certain that I'm only seeing the tip of the iceberg for how things can
be done better. I've also recently become convinced by TDD. I'd tried
it before, but it never stuck. This time it has. I'm surprised at how
complete the transition has been: now it feels like writing code
without tests against it is like trying to paint with a blindfold
on... it may feel like you got it right, but how do you *know* you
actually made what you intended?

In any case, I won't be available until December, and depending on how
this client's business is received by the market, I may have to give
them priority in the following months. But I'd be very interested in
keeping a line open.

Hope you're settling into Portland well. I'm a refugee from the
Midwest as well actually (Kansas). I moved here 7 years ago now, and
have a hard time imagining living anywhere else.

Jason
