For those of you who aren't familiar with it, BarCamp is "an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees." Of course, that's just what they say on the site. In more down-to-earth terms, it's a bunch of geeks, hackers, artists, designers, etc. who like to get together and talk about whatever interests them or gets them going.
Anyway, there's no firm date for the real event, but the people behind it have decided to have monthly meetups as a kinda informal build up to the real thing. Sign up if you're interested in attending BarCampPortland here: http://barcamp.org/BarCampPortland If you're interested in joining us for the meetups, you can sign up here: http://barcamp.org/BarCampPortlandMeetups (RSVPs generally are needed for these -- they're trying to make them all sponsored events). I notice a handful of you are already signed up for this, but it would be great to see more of you there. ~thomas ps. Sorry for those of you who are on the Dorkbot list who've already seen a very slightly less edited version of this same email. _______________________________________________ PDXRuby mailing list [email protected] IRC: #pdx.rb on irc.freenode.net http://lists.pdxruby.org/mailman/listinfo/pdxruby
