Hi, my colleagues created a port of memcache pecl extension that we call "4.x version" - published on github - https://github.com/websupport-sk/pecl-memcache. We try our best to keep up with current PHP versions as we use the extension extensively for our own work.
Our code is already included in multiple linux distros as "the version" - https://packages.debian.org/stretch/php-memcache / https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/php-pecl-memcache etc. We would like to make our version the official version with php7+ support for this extension - submitted my account for review.
