Right. At least the magnetic sniffers are trivial to build yourself. I took a 4 inch copperless pcb which was just 100mils wide and winded a few turns of fine wire around the tip. A 50 ohms in series and a few feet of thin coax make an excellent probe.
I didn't have the time to look into dipoles yet.
