Hello, all:

The mention of DXP SP2 just reminded me of a bug I discovered today with W2K
SP4. I thought I would pass along this info about W2K in case any of you
encounter it. From time to time some of you have network printer problems
in Protel.

I installed W2K SP4 on Friday last week. My previous W2K patch level was
SP2. The network printers worked fine on Friday and yesterday. But for
some unknowable reason the network printers became "unavailable" today (no,
they did not take the day off to print ballots!). After testing the print
servers, printing from other workstations on the network, I concluded that
my W2K box was the culprit. The MS knowledge base said to delete and
reinstall the printer drivers. I tried, and it wouldn't even let me do
that, even though I have Admin permissions. Rebooting didn't fix it either.
So I rolled it back to W2K SP2 and now the network printers are working
again.

Oh, BTW, the Access 2000 bug that I installed W2K SP4 to fix, wasn't fixed.
But the Access 2000 bug doesn't happen on Win95/98. So I can't get rid of
my old Win9X boxes even if I wanted to. W2K SP4 adds one bug, and doesn't
fix another bug. Let's see, -1 + 0 = -1. Negative improvement. Oh well...
:-(
