so one difference then is that we do not use the windows file system
maybe this is something simple after all
the DDB when using the windows file system is (i think) just a text file list of the files to load
maybe you should inspect that sounds possibly consistent with the the 'argument' error msg

Thanks....
i have camtastic, same version as you and P99SE SP6, i assume you are using SP6
Yup.
what is your OS ? i am using win2k some are SP2 SOME SP4
I'm running W2kSP4, too.
i use camtastic all the time and it does not cause the trouble you describe i usually have both open at once
I used to do that, too. For some unknown reason it stopped working.
At home I also run W2kSP4, P99SE and Camtastic and have yet to encounter a single problem....
as far as i know these are two completely separate animals and should not step on each other at all
Indeed, coming from the same source and being bundled it really should work seemlessly. It did, but not anymore.
are the PCB files internal to the DDB ? ie not 'windows file system' ?
I use the windows file system approach exclusively, since I once lost 7 DdBs in one crash..... They were so screwed up that it was quicker to rebuild them from the automated backup files and fill in the blanks than to trying to repair them. At least that way I knew where the misses were....
since resintalling fixes it, there must some particular file which is the culprit
My thoughts exactly. I tried to search for changed files but came up empty. It is not entirely impossible that the problem lies within the registry.....
i suggest once the system is working to copy the .RCS configuration files to a backup directory on your hard drive
I did! I did! I did see... oops, wrong cartoon ;)
also examine other files named *99SE*.*
when the problem reappears, restore those one by one
assuming you can locate a configuration file which is the bad boy maybe you can sniff it out inside that one
Alas, the problem does not lie in these files: even restoring them from a readonly ZIP file that I created right after the installation (before even starting the program) did not cure it.
if it is not a config file then a .DLL file must be getting corrupted there are also DLLs named *.bpl and *.dpl in the Window or Winnt folder
I will try to do a compare of all the .DLLs before and after. A lot of work, but hey....
please let us know how it goes
Roger, Will, Co and the rest of the family...;)
BTW, re losing customizations on reinstall
i too have a lot of customizations and although i am not an advocate of reinstalling things unless absolutely up against the wall
i don't lose the customizations because i keep a copy of the file CLIENT99SE.rcs somewhere handy
then i either restore that file, or paste in sections of it depending on the situation
i have a zillion key things and could not stand to recreate those all one by one
Good Idea. I'll see if the .rcs from my home machine will (after some fiddling) work on the workplace machine, that will at least keep the appearance the same (colors, toolbars etc).
One must not forget to copy new or modified buttons from the Protel99SE\System\Buttons\ directory either....
