Drive a car ??? Ever buy a new car ??? From a dealership ???

Everyone who buys a new car has also been getting a unique price....

( .....until SATURN started setting up their own dealerships....)

I am not saying I agree with it.......Just that this has been around a long
long long long time.........

So don't get too high up on the "soap-box". There is no "NOBEL PEACE PRIZE"
awards for your efforts toward competitive pricing for eda toolsets.

Don't make it sound like you just hatched yesterday or just got out of
college and began smelling the fresh air.....( though we were ALL there at
one time.......)

( And please don't anyone take my note too seriously.....I wouldn't mind
seeing this thread stop soon.......it serves its purpose though....and I
learnt a lot by it.........NO hard feelings.......)

Regards
TDK

You call that competition? I call it BS. Competition would be competing
on features, capabilities, flexibility, extensibility, ease of use,
documentation, price, etc. This is not competition, it is deception.
Buying EDA should not be like buying a car. Buying a car should not be
like buying a car, for that matter. That's one reason why I buy a new car
only every 10 years or so. I find car shopping to be a thoroughly
unpleasant experience because of the "screw-em-unless-they-know-better"
mentality. Only when you make it abundantly clear to the salesperson that
you are the one making the offer and they can take it or leave it, will you
avoid getting ripped off. Sometimes it makes a difference which
salesperson you get - I've had to walk out on some and come back a few
weeks later to a different one, with better results. Yes, I got the car I
wanted. In the color I wanted. With the engine/transmission I wanted. At
a price that I wanted. But it took 6 weeks of letting the dealer stew
about it.

If EDA vendors are going to start pricing like car dealers, maybe we should
start shopping like savvy car shoppers?
