Thanks Brad,
Once I figured to ignore the "Attributes to match by" column things
started to work much nicer. Thanks for the great explanation.

Jason,
How are you specifying the global change? I will assume your part
number is in a PartField?
Partfields can be changed globally quite easily when you know the method.
i.e. for a part number 70-45-300 that I want to change all occurrences to a
70-45-200.
Select global changes as normal. Go to the partfield page. Don't worry about the "Attributes
to match by" column, go straight to the "Copy Attributes" column. In the block for
your partfield of concern, enter the following using my part numbers as example.
{70-45-300=70-45-200)
(note the brackets are the same style as Protels default in this column. I
don't know how they may come out visually in this email.)
This will change all strings that match the first part number to the
second partnumber, except for the actual part you are editing. Change it in the
partfield manually while you have the partfield global edits open.
Slightly trickier method but very useful at times. Using the same
examples you can change partial strings as well.
{-300=-200}
This would change any part number containing -300 to contain -200.
Note: that could mean other parts you might not have intended. It would change
a 25-36-300 to 25-36-200, as well as the example 70-45-300 to 70-54-200.
The same can be used on other fields that have the "Copy Attributes"
column. Just remember that it doesn't change the actual part you have open to perform the
change, you must change that one part manually while you are in the part fields.
Good luck. Any further questions or explanation needed, just ask.
Sincerely,

Subject: [PEDA] Parts Field Global Changes
Hello,
I would like to update our internal partnumbers on the the schematic in
the Part Fields. But I can't seem to get the global function to work.
For example I have 89 100nF caps with the same internal partnumber and I
would like to update them all at once instead of hitting each one, one
at a time. When I try to do the global function it only finds the one
100nF and doesn't update the part fields. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jason
