Hi Tom,
to my knowledge FR4 is just fine with the higher solder temperature. It's
not that big a difference anyway.
And to Ivan:
I think you are mixing up WEEE with ROHS. ROHS is about lead-free products,
WEEE is about waste disposal.
And yes, we do all that only to annoy the american competition, lol.
Mit freundlichem Gruß
Kind regards

Tom, your company makes medical equipment, right? Isn't medical equipment
exempted from European lead-free regulations (WEEE)? I sure hope so. I'd
hate for medical equipment to fail from tin whisker growth.
Come to think of it, I'd hate for any equipment to fail for that reason.
Oh well, the customer will just buy a new unit to replace the failed one,
and that's good for business, right? Right? If the customer complains,
I'll just explain that the Europeans won't let us use the good solder
anymore. Do you think that will make them feel better and give them that
warm fuzzy feeling as they reach for their wallet?
Best regards,
