I have never been able to make negation bars behave correctly in Protel. I stopped using them years ago.

What I use now is a minus sign '-' in front of the net name to indicate negation. For example, a low-true RAM chip select signal is "-CSRAM".

Some texts use a pound symbol '#' for negation: "#CSRAM". Other texts use a lowercase 'n': "nCSRAM".
