I can assure you that I did do that many times. Every time the program
indicated that there was nothing to delete (Delete option was greyed).
Given that there are no `components' on Mechanical Layer 1 and that this has
shown to be the culprit I have been unable to determine what `it' was. I will,
as previously suggested, try removing all the other layers and see if something
remains that can be locked on.

Best Regards

  Laurie,
As was suggested in one earlier post. The most reliable way to remove those
items (in P99SE and I assume AD would be similar) has always been to Select
All, then Deselect Inside (cursoring around your items that are within view),
then delete (Shift-Delete).
In this manner it is selecting everything in the database (typically
regardless of whether it is off-screen), then deselecting anything bounded by
the cursored rectangle, then deleting everything that was not deselected
(should be the item(s) that had any objects out of the workspace).

I have already tried this including importing to Protel 99SE, exporting out
and back in to AD6 but to no avail (although I did lose all the net names on my
tracks in the process so wasn't keen to continue with that even if it had fixed
my problem).

Moving the board to a higher part of the screen results in the `empty' region
at the bottom increasing. Rotating it simply confirmed that `something' was out
there. I tried turning on all comments and designators but still nothing showed
up.

I eventually fixed the problem by deleting Mechanical Layer 1 (which
originally had a couple of boundary markers so that I could easily see where
the analog and digital grounds were). I haven't been able to `find' what it was
on that layer because even with everything that I had put on there (and that
was only lines) deleted, the problem still persisted. Delete the layer and it
went away.

Thanks to you all for your feedback. If I ever find the culprit I will let
the group know.

  Best Regards
