First of all you can't attach files in the PEDA forum, so nobody got your
attachments. Secondly one would have to assume you mean DXP2004, rather than
Protel 2004?

That said, yes the ACAD import does have a habit of dropping some items
from importing. The number one cause of this would be if the arcs (maybe they
were short segments of large radius arcs?) in your drawing had origins that
fell into negative quadrants or exceeded the database limits in the positive
quadrant. Other than that, there are just some quirks that pop up
intermittently particularly with importing arcs.

Since you only mention two arcs on two sides, why not just redraw them
once the rest of the outline is imported to DXP2004? You should know the radius
and origins from the ACAD dwg, just replace them manually in DXP.

At some later version, supposedly Altium did revise the ACAD import so
that it would auto-magically relocated an imported ACAD file so that it was
within the database positive quadrant and boundaries. I don't know the precise
version in which that was accomplished. This feature while solving the import
problem, created other problems because one could not control the location of
an imported ACAD file and Altium seemed to have indicated that they were going
to revise that feature to return control of the imported ACAD location as it
had been previously.

Subject: [PEDA] import an AutoCAD file

Hello,

I want to make use of the design of an AutoCAD file (.dwg file) as my PCB
board. In Protel 2004 I import this dwg file with File -> Import. The result
is, I lose the curves of two sides, please see my attachment. AUTOCAD.jpg is
the original AutoCAD file and protel.jpg the imported PCB file. What should I
do?

  Thanks.
