List, The renowned Spanish Peirce scholar, Jaime Nubiola, forwarded me a letter containing a link to a most interesting document sent to him by June Kim, a Canadian AI systems / research engineer who has an interest in Peirce's methodeutic (see: https://june.kim/reading/methodeutics/). June would like to share this material, so Jaime has asked me to "distribute [it widely] to the Peirce community."
In June's initial letter to Jaime, he describes what the link contains: It's a browsable viewer of Peirce's Houghton manuscripts (bMS Am 1632), page images bound to searchable transcriptions: about 1,830 pages across 77 items, including the 1902 Carnegie Institution correspondence (L75) with William James's letter urging his case. It's at https://june.kim/peirce <https://www.google.com/url?q=https://june.kim/peirce&source=gmail-imap&ust=1783613168000000&usg=AOvVaw1UIPKeNcNJx7qBIrDEDWyu> The transcriptions are machine-assisted drafts, still under correction, so they carry errors; each page links to its scan and to its source file, and a correction is just a small edit. The same text is now attached to the Internet Archive items themselves, so it is full-text searchable there and free to reuse under CC BY-SA. NB:The "transcriptions are machine-assisted drafts . . . link[ing] to its scan and to its source file," the material being "full-text searchable there and free to reuse under CC BY-SA." This should prove invaluable for Peirce scholars, especially those interested in "the 1902 Carnegie Institution correspondence (L75) with William James's letter urging his case," although there are other documents transcribed as well. I would encourage forum members to explore at least several pages of the document to see one way in which advanced machine technology is contributing to Peircean and other scholarship.
