It is my understanding that the three dicisigns Gary F is referring to are:
1) dicent indexical sinsign 2) dicent indexical legisign 3) dicent symbolic legisign If "dicent sign" is synonymous with "dicisign" and if "a dicent symbolic legisign (i.e., 3))is a proposition", my question is why can't 1) and 2) be also propositions? Can it be that 2) is "natural proposition" and 1) is "intuitive proposition" ? Just a wild speculation on my part. Sung > Edwina, lists, > > > > In Peirce, âdicent signâ is synonymous with âdicisignâ. A dicent > symbolic legisign is a proposition; as Peirce puts it, âa proposition > is, in short, a Dicisign that is a Symbol. But an Index, likewise, may be > a Dicisignâ (EP2:282). So for Peirce, the dicent symbolic legisign is > not the only kind of dicisign.
