List,

I'm forwarding this post by Cathy Legg to the Charles S. Peirce Society
blog. GR

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS: MINICONFERENCE 3 December 2016

Keynotes: (provisional on funding, to be resolved shortly)
Shannon Dea, University of Waterloo, Canada
Paul Redding, University of Sydney, Australia

Charles Peirce famously recommended that the words “Do not block the way of
inquiry” be inscribed “upon every wall of the city of philosophy”. But what
exactly does this instruction mean in practice? The past decade has seen a
groundswell of attention to discussions of philosophical method, or
metaphilosophy, in mainstream analytic philosophy. This miniconference
seeks to broaden these discussions to include conversations with other
traditions, particularly American pragmatism. What might the philosophical
traditions currently alive in the English-speaking world learn from each
other, and what new philosophical pathways might lie on the other side of
such engagements?

Organizer: Catherine Legg
Conference Date and Venue: 3 December 2016, directly after the NZAP
conference, at the University of Waikato, in the beautiful North Island of
Aotearoa New Zealand.

This is an initial call for expressions of interest in attending. Please
send title and/or abstract of 100-250 words to [email protected]. A
second more formal CFP will appear in due course.
