with knives boarded a tug towing a barge off Indonesia this morning, the
International Maritime Bureau reported.
The vessel was near Selat Berhala south of Sinkep when the attack occurred. The
crew followed anti-piracy guidelines and IMB's Piracy Reporting Centre relayed
the tug's request for aid to authorities.
When the pirates found they could not enter the vessel's accommodation they
left the tug and boarded the barge. They stole ship's stores and equipment and
lowered them into their boat. A naval patrol craft subsequently contacted the
tug and rendered aid, the IMB said.
