Brad, this is slander. I have no patience for apologetics for Stalinist
crimes, as you kniow, but Mussolini belonged to the Socialist Party, not a #d
International CP--that is, to an ancestor of the center-right governing
parties of Europe today. And the Nazis were never any shade of socialist,
never belonging to the 3d or 2d international, or implementing even state
socialst politics when in power, but were merely trying to cash in on the
popularity of socialism with the German working classes. The Nazis who _were_
anticapitalist--Gregor Strasser and the "left" of the SA--were booted quite
early, in fact before '33, so Hitler could secure the support of big
industry. I don't whitewash the mass murders and brutal repressions of the
Stalinist communist parties, but it's unworthy of you to lump them together
with fasist right, also sloppy and uncharacteristically ignorant. --jks

Sorry, but I'm afraid we won't.
Recall the common attachment to cults of personality, the common
drive to "coordinate" society, the common fear of elections and
hatred of parliamentary politics. We remember which party Mussolini
led before he became Mussolini. We remember that there were *reasons*
it was called the National *Socialist* German *Workers* Party.
It's not the difference between night and day. The difference between
11 P.M. and 1 A.M. maybe...
