I'm sure they know that and when the chips are down (as they are not 
currently), the "center" (the political-economic elite) will choose "day" 
(the fascists), because the latter aren't against capitalism except 
rhetorically.

CB: For clarification, we may be thinking of "center" differently. 

I was not thinking of the "center" as the political-economic elite here.  I would put 
the political-economic elite, ruling class, on the right. I'm thinking of the "center" 
as masses with mediocre level of class consciousness.
