Hi to all,
I have been off the list for well over a year because I don't have
time to keep up with all of the posts, so if you reply, reply directly
to my address: [EMAIL PROTECTED] or I won't see it.
After months of feet dragging, the Provost hass finally approved a
one year lecturer position in the Dept of Econ at Eastern Washington
University. Now we are in a rush, so if you are interested, please
send me an email and then fax your info to 509-359-6732 with my
name on the cover sheet.
The ad below from the Feb. JOE was "unauthorized," but we wanted
to start the process. Only one position has been authorized, starting
in the Fall. We are on the quarter system, which runs from mid_September
to early June. The position requires a load of 3 classes per quarter
and the pay is terrible, approximately $30 K. But there is a 95 percent
chance we will be hiring for a tenure track position next year, and the
last two times we did that, the existing lecturers got the tt position.
The tenure-track job would require a completed Ph.D. Due to retirements,
the Dept. has room for candidates with almost any fields, but Labor
or other applied micro fields and/or international would fit well.
The dept. includes several heterodox economists, at least three
members of IAFFE, and accepts non-mainstream research for
consideration for tenure. There is only one hard-core neoclassical
member of the dept., tho a couple of others lean that way.
EWU is located just outside Spokane WA (metro area pop of
400,000) and most faculty live in Spokane. Cost of housing is
relatively low, so it is possible to survive on our low salaries.
If you are even vaguely interested, please contact me very soon,
so I can work you into the pool.
