Pro-Peace Vigils
There are vigils in morning and rememberance taking place across the
country. We are all struggling to come to grips with disaster. Indymedia New
York City has some very good coverage of the reaction in their city.
There has been a lot of debate about what we should do. What should
"America" do. What we must not do is react to violence with more violence.
To answer hate with hate and racism. To do so would defile the very concepts
of freedom, democracy, and civilization. Racist killing in revenge will
bring no honor to our dead.
The politicians also want to use this horrific act to scrap our democratic
civil liberities. They want to out law encryption, to monitor everything we
say, to infilitrate every opposition group, to use racial profiling. These
acts could represent the death of the american consitution.

Canceled? Due to the tragic disasters in New York and DC it appears the IMF
and World Bank will be canceling their meeting. Protests against their large
annual meeting include diverse activists with both an anti-capitalist and a
broad coalition. There will be protests about debt relief, plan colombia, US
military interventions, mumia, the corporate media, star wars, and many
other issues.
