Oh brother - another bad metaphor. As if being blind were worse than
death? Even Ghandi discriminates against the state of disablement.
Can't we get beyond all the stereotypes which equate an impairment
with the worst thing imagineable? I am just reading Douglas Baynton's
essay "Disability and the Justification of Inequality in American
History" in THE NEW DISABILITY HISTORY. It is a great expose on how
the left has absorbed and perpetuated the "normality" fallacy by
connecting "normality" with progress.
