can't someone just "buy cacao beans long"? don't people on Wall Street
often sign futures contracts while hoping that the beans will never be
delivered? (with selling short, they hope that they'll never have to
cough them up, as it were.) if enough people buy long, that drives up
the price, encouraging further speculation of the same sort...

more importantly, wouldn't the rising price of these beans to some
extent reflect speculation that the dollar is going to continue to
fall?
