Well, you can estimate these effects.

Take wealth, income, or consumption measures for the U.S. (some
available on the Census Bureau's web site).  Then isolate gender from
race effects, controlling for all else you can control for.  Voilá.
Race is a class marker, much more than gender.

Curious thing: there's a lot of residual wealth, income, and
consumption variability -- i.e. variability that cannot be explained
by any of the other variables contained in the data sets.  A lot.
That doesn't invalidate your estimation of gender and race effects
though.

CB: Then there's life expectancy.  Women have a longer life expectancy than 
men. White people have longer life expectancy than Black people and other 
people of color.  Those are  pretty significant statistics on this issue.
