> What did you say about Ataturk? > -raghu. I said that even his accepting Ataturk as his last name, given to him by the National Assembly in the 1920s, which means the father or predecessor of Turks by the way, pointed to some serious psychological problems on his part. Charles Brown, James Daily, Michael Keaney, Michael Perelman and several other friends know what happened real time. Here is what I wrote to the World Systems guys on March 7, 2007:]
Ganesh Trichur: <<< How exactly did you insult Ataturk if I may ask? You do not have to respond to this if you do not want to. In any case do tell me how I may help. Ganesh >>> I do not think I insulted him in any way. I respect the guy in the first place. I just do not agree with his world view, just as I do not agree with Lenin's world view, for example. Basically, I treat him as a human being with rights and wrongs, as opposed to a God-like figure. But you see, I call him "guy," "person" and things like that, and these are reasons enough to get accused of insulting him, or at least, this was what I was told. I claimed that he and his cohort misunderstood the world. I claimed (correctly by the way) also that he was not even ethnically Turkish and argued that his acceptance of Ataturk (The Father of Turks) as his last name pointed to some psychological problems. I still claim the same. He was not the only one who was suffering from that, majority of the intelligensia in Turkey, a few of whom subscribe to this list, still suffer from serious psychological problems even today and I do not except myself from this. Things like that, that is. There was nothing factually incorrect in what I said and this is why I think even before the law, however silly the law may be, I am not guilty of anything. Of course, I am not guilty of anything, irrespective of the law. Obviously, the Provost disagrees. The thing is, their strategy is harming them: they are moving me from "oblivion" to "fame" (or "notoriority") by doing this. Sooner or later this situation will be heard by the uninvolved parties inside and outside the country. You see, you already heard it.
