The concept of "altruism" (a word coined by the positivist & radical individualist Comte) ist itself an ideological concept, another way of expresdsing Margaret Thatcher's "Society does not exist, only individuals and families." That is, if you consider the world to be made up of isolated -- abstract -- individuals then you have a problem of explaining how social relations dome into existence and are maintained. "Altruism" is one of the pseudo-principles that is invented to solve this insoluable problem.
