There's a really easy way to make this happen -- without 
all this agonized head-scratching over terminology and 
marketing and the supposed squeamishness of the public -- 
if Obie *wanted* to make it happen, that is, which he 
doesn't. 

You simply let the banks go bankrupt. Then the government 
steps in and buys 'em for pennies on the dollar -- if that; 
some of these outfits are probably worth less than zero. 
Call it a "rescue". Then once Sam owns 'em, he starts 
lending money like crazy. 

Same goes for the automakers. Let 'em go bust, pick 'em 
up at a fire sale price, and then run 'em in a sensible way
for a change. 

Bankruptcy: nationalization without tears.
