Strong taxation plus regulation of a firm/industry at some level relative to nationalization is a distinction without a difference, or a difference in quantity rather than quality.
Obama did a speech on Lincoln last night in Springfield that was a poem to the tradition of American collective action. There was also a throwaway line about how that tradition enabled the world to overcome the threat of fascism -- without the usual bookend mention of communism. And by the way, the title of this thread is ridiculous.
