The plural for the animals is "hens" or "chickens." The meat is called "chicken." I think that PETA is missing the boat here. The problem with raising chickens is that nowadays they follow the industrial model, which involves not only crowding the birds together in cramped and fetid conditions and shooting them up with hormones but also is not good for the consumers (us carnivores). ...
