Dan,
I thought I'd give it a look, but only watched a few minutes when I
realized it is 40+ minutes in length. I hope others on the list more
familiar with the Mises analysis can respond better than I.
From the first few minutes I got the impression that the analysis
blames the country's economic woes on the Fed, almost or totally
exclusively. That's not the same as picking on the gnomes of Zurich
or Jewish bankers but not much different. And in my view that's both
a simplistic and wrong explanation.
Sorry I couldn't bear to watch the whole thing. And also sorry I
didn't catch you at the Grand Lake the other night. Something else
intervened.

PEN-Lers,
I joined this email forum several years ago when I embarked on an
educational project in which I used email forums to study various
disciplines, mainly by lurking as a fly, as it were on the faculty
wall. I long ago gave up my membership in the dendrochronologists'
forum, the computer games developers' forum, etc....
I have stuck with this one through the years because it not only
keeps me aware of economic issues, but it dabbles intriguingly in
politics, has numerous members who are intelligent, honest and
humorous. It's also a great kick-off point for interesting and
important news threads. From time to time I graduate from lurker to
poster, usually when I can't restrain from inserting a pun.
However, on several questions I have asked what were serious
questions to me that no one bothered to answer. I chalk it up to me
not being an "economist" and my question being trivial. One question
I recall that was never answered was "Are there any countries on the
planet at present whose currencies are on the gold standard?" No one
bothered to answer.
Makes me think that perhaps economists are too much with their
discipline and not enough with the daily drudge. Dunno.
Today I watched an interesting video at http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/585.html
that gives a bit of history of the banking industry. Once again I'd
like to ask a stupid question. I realize that many members of this
forum have more important things to do on a daily basis, but if
anyone does take a gander at this film, I'd be interested in knowing
its flaws.
Thanks,
Dan Scanlan
