The laws that we live under has a systematic bias, favoring some "other constituencies" over the UAW, over similar organizations, and over people in general. That is, the law favors financial entitlements (i.e., those of people with excess money to burn or to lend) over what's good for people without money. The more money someone has, the more entitled he or she is, and the more the law defends that person. A long-term investment of one's muscle, nerves, brain, and life in working on assembly line is treated as inferior to financial commitments, promises on pieces of paper. -- Jim Devine / "Segui il tuo corso, e lascia dir le genti."
