I think presenting these issues as these sort of choices is incorrect. Yoshie has a viewpoint and a thesis. I think its valuable. She doesn't have to be entirely right for it to be valuable. Especially in the context of some version of "white man's burden" type thinking that she provides a counterpoint to.
