The Indian attitude towards "gay life" is to deny there is any such thing. Sort of a society-wide "don't ask don't tell" policy. Then again, public displays of all kinds of sexual affection are generally not socially appropriate in India. There is an interesting open question about how much of this prudishness is a colonial legacy imported from Victorian England and how much of it is historically Indian. Afterall India is the land of the Kamasutra..
